Building a Strong Economy While Preserving What Makes Lodi Special

As a native Lodian, small business owner, and Managing Partner of a family-owned shopping center, I understand that a healthy local economy creates opportunity, strengthens neighborhoods, and preserves the character of our community. That's why I led efforts to make economic development a top City priority. We established Lodi's first Economic Development Department, hired our first Economic Development Director, created an Economic Development Committee, adopted Lodi's first comprehensive Economic Development Strategic Plan, and repealed the City's costly business license tax, replacing it with a simple and affordable business registration fee.

Today we're building on that momentum. The Downtown Specific Plan creates an exciting vision for reconnecting neighborhoods, encouraging private investment, supporting our locally owned businesses, and revitalizing Sacramento, Main, and Stockton Streets. I will continue advocating for a permitting process that is predictable, efficient, customer-focused, and business-friendly because businesses create the jobs and investment that strengthen our community.

Growth should enhance Lodi—not change it. We can welcome quality housing, good-paying jobs, and responsible investment while protecting the small-town character, historic neighborhoods, and quality of life that make Lodi such a special place to call home.
